I have a 92 camaro cluster and I was wondering how much work it is to fit into an 89. What do i need for the elec speedo etc?

 

Welcome to TGO. Since the shape of the two clusters is considerably different, some major modifications would be required. Swapping the entire dash might be easier. If any of that was accomplished, you'd need to add a VSS to the tail shaft of your trans.

As already said the cluster is a different shape compared to the pre 91/92 cluster.

It will be eaiser to swap the entire dash, I did this swap on my 84.
Just get a complete dash, with a complete harness. Get the wiring diagrams for both years, and then match the pins on the 92 harness to your 89 harness.

It's actually a pretty easy swap, you'll need to convert your mechnical speedo to a VSS.

 

Thanks I have the whole dash assembly so i guess i will have to try and find the wiring somewhere

The complete wiring harness?
A donor car would be the first place I would look.
It would almost be easier to just buy a new dash that has everything in place.

I got my whole dash with complete harness for $75 a few years back.

Taking the time to find another dash, and then ripping all the wiring out just to try and put it back into your dash would be a pain.
