Power Windows Installed!

So I bought a power window setup on eBay for $50.00 and it was the best thing Ive bought online in a long time. I got the motors, regulators, wiring, switches, brackets and all the bolts. I got one heck of a deal for it. So the site that I followed, http://www.p71interceptor.com/thirdgen/powerwindows/ worked out pretty good as far as what to do to install them. It said it would take 1 or 2 weekends to complete this project but it took me 6 hours to do the drivers side with the wiring setup and then 1 1/2 hrs on the passenger side. At first it seemed like the project would be a b!tch but once I knew what I was doing, it was easy. So they work just great now and I love how I got power windows now! Just giving my 2 cents and letting ya guys now.

Thats great. Do they roll up/down quickly or are they slow? I dont think I have ever seen a camaro/firebird with windows that dont take 5mins to roll up/down and I was thinking about replacing my motors and cleaning up the tracks but I dont know if it would be worth the work.

Re: Power Windows Installed!

They aren't like new age power windows but they go up and down pretty good. It was worth every cut and sweat dripped for these, especially for the price that I got the set for. Lol. I was getting really tired of stretching over and rolling them up and down. But its all good now.

Re: Power Windows Installed!

Ive been looking to do this for a while now. Was the power window kit from another 3rd gen or was it a universal kit? And would you happen to have the ebay page link. Thanks!

Re: Power Windows Installed!

I went to the GM Dealership and they got some for me. They werent the peel rivets I wanted but they work. Just make sure you get 1/4 wide ones cuz 3/16 wont work, they will hold for a lil bit but then they will wiggle loose on ya. I went to a Auto Value car parts store and they had some 1/4 rivets there but I dont know if you have any of those around. I had to rent a big rivet gun for the 1/4 ones. All the stores sell rivet guns but they go up to 3/16 rivet size so ya have to find a bigger one. The one I found was at a rental store and it was really easy to use.

Re: Power Windows Installed!

You could always put motors from another GM car that roll up faster , 4thgen for example.

Re: Power Windows Installed!

Glad the kit worked out for you and at $50 bucks it sounds like a steal.

I recently had a motor go out, is there a similar guide to the one you posted in your first post that'll give me a walkthrough on replacing the motor on a car that already had power windows?

Re: Power Windows Installed!

Yup no prob. Yea I could do that but what I got right now is good for what I needed, if they go out or get slower, ill look for some motors from a 4th gen maybe. Uhm I just looked on this site and I found that site for the installation of the motors, I dont know if there is any manuals/installations that show how to replace just the motor.
