Quality Carpet for third Gen becoming hard to find.
Iv been havnig some trouble finding some carpet for my 83 camaro. I removed the old carpet because it was beyond saving. At the junk yard all the third gens have carpet thats worse than the stuff I pulled out. I have put 4th gen carpet in a 3rd gen before and would do it again but Im having a hard time finding 4th gen carpet right now as well.
What Im curios about is if anyone has ever tried just using rolls of carpet from a store and managed to sucessfully make it look decent in a third gen.

You would need an industrial sewing machine, but I have done it.
I do automotive trim for a living.
4th gens have the same floorboard shape? for carpet that is.
Remember the larger of oz. the thicker the carpet
Wool carpeting is the best, polyester loop looks appropriate in older cars that came with that type of carpet

I have seen people buy automotive carpet from apple auto glass and literally glue it over their old worn carpet (keeps the shape and all size and mounting points).

I was just removing some panels the other day and I realized that the upholstery place that did my carpet a couple years ago, did exactly that. Now I want to get rid of that mickey mouse crap.
