4th gen seat swap
I was browsing through the threads because I needed help with my wiring because I had the manual seats and the 4th gen seats are well one is electric. ROCKYD said you could take ur third gen tracks off and put them on your new 4th gen seats. WRONG. It requries was too much fabbing and making the hole bigger. My opinion Run and hot and a ground from your dash. Took way too long and had to out the 4th gen tracks back on the seats. Do it the right way. Hope this helps someone in the furture.

Re: 4th gen seat swap
4th gen seats bolt right in - just need a power wire from the fuse panel to the driver seat (if it's electric), and attach a ground under the seat. Put a blade connector on the power wire and attach it to the empty fuse spot marked BATT - that way the seat will move with OR without the key in the ignition - so you can move the seat back after your short but very sweet loving caring beautiful sexy wife drives the car.

Re: 4th gen seat swap
actually you should tie into the fuse block for that purpose and you dont actually need a fuse, it is already there. that is what i did.
i got a set of leather seats, front and back, ordered the factory connector to the passenger seat, and hook into the fuse block where the oem factory electric seats tie into.

Blue is right, Craigslist is a good place. I have decided to sell my 4th gen Firebird seats. If you were closer I would sell them to you since I'd rather not ship...

Re: 4th gen seat swap
Actually..if you guys want to wire them more like factory...you'll install a circuit breaker into the power wire. This is so if the seat is all the way forward, and you are still pushing the forward control, it will trip the breaker. Lay off the button for a few seconds, and it resets itself. Better than having to replace fuses if you go try moving the seat past its range of motion.
A fuse is a good back up for sure though.

+1 for craigslist, I scored my 4thgen seats, seatbelts and carpet for less then 200 plus I sold my seats on there so I made out pretty well.

Re: 4th gen seat swap
Hey guys, on wiring up a new electric seat, couldn't you just solder the new wires into the black and orange wires that are already there by the seat? When I got the new seat, I just cut the harness right by the door, so I dont have alot of wiring options.
Edit: This is in a car that doesn't already have a power seat provision.

Re: 4th gen seat swap
I just ran a + wire with an inline fuse to a BATT empty slot in the fuse panel and ran the wire under the door sill plate - this allows me to adjust the seat with the key out since BATT has power always, then I attached the ground wire under the seat where I drilled a small hole in the seat frame rail and attched a screw with the ground wire - the seat bolts in the car metal, so the ground is complete.
