T-top Headliner Removal

Hello All.

I've spent about 2 years of reading these boards (almost all of the threads) and I have really enjoyed the experience, so I decided to join up. I stumbled upon this site doing some searching for 3rd gen Camaro info etc. Now to the point, as the thread title says, I'm looking for some info on the removal of the T-top headliner on my kids 1987 Camaro Z-28. He has a problem with the drivers side seat belt retractor, not retracting, and I want to be able to at least try to fix it, before searching for another one. I tried the search feature, but didn't get exactly the results I was looking for. Anyone got any pictures to go along with detailed instructions?

Re: T-top Headliner Removal

try looking up the posts for the abs t-top headliner I know I saw a quite detailed install for that, which would also detail the best way to remove the one you have, I know it was a step by step tutorial. Hope this helps out

Apparently the retractor recall is not for 1987, but I'll research it some more, you never know, there might be a way to sneak it in, but then there is still the dreaded "sorry, but that part is discontinued/no longer available" reply at the stealership parts counter.

Thanks!!

Thanks Stormr!!! It seems that when I searched before for this, I didn't get the full results, or something like that. I just found what I was looking for searching again, maybe I used the wrong key word? Anyways, I found it!!!

Thanks again!!

Re: T-top Headliner Removal

I've got a complete step-by-step tech article for headliner removal/installation on my website:

Hope it helps.

Hi Jim,

The link doesn't work any longer. I hope to install my t-top headliner tomorrow and I'd be interested in seeing your article, whether in a new link or posted here.

Re: T-top Headliner Removal

I got the link to open and thank you Jim for the article. I was making great progress yesterday until I got to the sunvisors. 30 minutes later and I gave up. I look forward to using your trick to seperate the visors from the mount and installing the mounts first.
