parked for winter(should I worry about mice?)

Should I worry about mice? I live on Long Island NY in a suburban area. If mice are a possibility what is a good way to keep them out of my car? I don't want to use moth ***** because they smell terrible. And since i wont be messin with my car until spring the odor will be really strong when i do open the car. I hear dryer sheets work. My interior is practically mint so i do not want mice to ruin it.

Thanks,
Nick

yea i would do something under the hood and inside, i have seen the dryer sheets idea in some of my motorhome magizines, i dont know how many to use and how long they last. but i would fill my inside with them and use nasty moth ***** under the hood

i know there is other ways to rid mice but cant remember them, there is also a comercial product that will not smell like moth ***** at your better rv dealerships or stores

BTY my friends work truck got rats that ate some of the wires under the hood between friday night and monday morning this week

Forget all the old wives tales. moth ***** are for moths.
Get some of the d-con poison pellets. put one under the hood, and one in the passenger compartment. They are very effective. Its apoison that makes them bleed out internally. It also makes them very thristy, so they crawl out looking for water, not die in the walls where they will stink. They are really the only solution if you arent going to periodicaly open the car and check it. If are goign to check it sometimes, use some mechanical traps too, but obviously those will stink if you dont empty them. If theres a good hunting cat nearby, make sure it knows the car is there (sit in it with the cat for a bit), and a good mousing cat will stake out the car and guard it all winter.
While im sure you're mouse problems arent as bad as ours here in VT, they are everywhere, and its amazing how mauch damage they can do.

Re: parked for winter(should I worry about mice?)

I second the mouse pellets. I have a 67 truck that I have left sitting for months (sometimes years) at a time. I put one package under the vehicle and one in the car on something that is easy to clean (like a floor mat). Every few months I would come back to check and find the packets empty, but no evidence or smells of mice anywhere. If you check it more often then I do, a good live trap close to the vehicle works well too
