Any suggestions where to get parts to repair a broken heater blend door.. I was taking the control cable off and broke the pot metal arm off that the cable attaches to. The door is really stiff when trying to move by hand... Is it a real pain to pull the blend door out??
It may sound impossible, but I was able to pry one off of a spare heater box. If you look at it closely you'll see a D shaped hole where it slips over the door shaft.
Do this at your own risk though, because the spare lever could very well break when you pull it off. The broken piece on my car pulled right off, but the piece on the spare box took about 30 minutes of gentle pulling with pliers before it decided to come loose. I knew pulling the heater box was beyond my skill level.
Could someone post a photo of how the cable hooks up to the little blend door lever pictured above? I need to fabricate one of these and am wondering if I'm missing a part that goes on the end of the cable.
What is the bore, key/flat spot size, and overall part dimensions? Does anyone have them? I can get some made in my machine shop if I had an original in good shape to measure!
I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know of someone making replacement linkage arms? I broke mine trying to free up the blend flap. I really don't want to take my dash out just for this. Thanks,
Hate to revive an older thread but has anyone found a good solution to this problem? I'm putting my car back on the road in Spring and the heater door is one problem I have to tackle as my pot metal arm is also broken.
Thanks.
I ended up buying a used heater box assembly that had an intact flap arm. Was able to remove the intact arm and my broken one with very careful prying and lots of WD40. Good luck.
If you cant sell any or make more, did you have dimensions available so we can make our own? Id like one too! mines in 20 pieces!
Hey guys, I know this is an old thread, but if any of you are still searching for a lever, feel free to reach out. I just had my cousin machine a brand new temp door lever for my 87 trans am. It has a set screw you tighten down to grab the flat side of the D shaft. Works perfectly. I have 2 extras currently and he can make more upon requests.

Hey guys, between the forum and my listing on ebay, I have sold a couple dozen lever kits now. One of my most recent sales has me gun shy though. His car blend door was cable driven (I think the majority are). He ended up having to make a plate to bolt to my lever, so he could have a 2 peg lever vs the one peg lever I sell. Long story short he got it to work and all is well. However, I'm wondering if he was the only one that needed to do that, or if there are others out there that have bought my lever and not had good luck? If my lever only works on certain trim packages, I'm debating on shutting it down. I am trying to provide a solution here and not another headache lol.
Any and all feedback is welcome, especially from those who have purchased.
