Tan interior plastic dye?

I have read around the forum about repainting the interior
plastics and I was wondering if anyone knows what SEM color
for the early tan interior is. I am trying to dye the black interior plastics
on my 82 trans am and I want to do it right the first time.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

According to the "Camaro White Book", Camel is the interior color listed for 1982. In 85 they changed the name to "Saddle"

I'm going of the SEM website for the code for Camel.

Best is to get a used interior panel (say from www.thirdgenranch.com) and then you'll have the exact color.

Re: Tan interior plastic dye?

What I'm saying is all you need is a single panel to check the color against.

See if they have a damaged kick or sill panel.

Something under $15 or 20.

Re: Tan interior plastic dye?

The only pieces that are "good" are the drivers side rear large plastic and the
step rail things. I have never seen other black plastics but mine seem a little bit off color...I really dont know though.

Re: Tan interior plastic dye?

correct me if I'm wrong but I think the tan colors changed during the period, I think 82-84 was the same 85-90 and 91-92.

I think you're right. The early ones were kind of yellow looking, and '91-'92 was almost a light brown color. '85-'90 was sort of a mix of the two.

Re: Tan interior plastic dye?

See thats what I thought but the camel that I bought
looks more like the 91-92 "brown" instead of the light
tan... I think that the buckskin or the palomino
looks more like the light tan color.

Re: Tan interior plastic dye?

I have an actual SEM color chart, and some original '83 T/A interior panels... none seem to be that close IIRC. This very same question has come up not too long ago, but I can check again to refresh my memory.
