Dash Shell, What years will interchange?
I recently purchased an 89 Iroc and have been going through it fixing things. I was replacing the dash speakers and noticed the dash shell is craked and broken all to hell. It is broken in so many places It would be futile to even attempt to rig it for now. I was wondering what year models will swap directly with no mods.
Thanks.
Thanks.

at least 85-89, 1990 was the first year for digital dash, and i'm not positive on 82-84 dashes. Should be good to grab a shell from any model as well, as they all have the same hole setup for the badge on the passenger side.

82 - 89 Dash Shells are the same. There are 2 types,... With and without Air conditioning.
When it comes to the wiring harness - only an 89 will be plug/play. The 89 used VATS and cable speedo,... 89 was the only year that happened so other years will need modification to work correctly. ( Meaning - just pull your harness off the original shell and re-use it ! )

Re: Dash Shell, What years will interchange?
must be a camaro thing only that 82 is same as 89 but in firebirds it not...
consoles and all are different
and i know the consoles in 82 are definitely different where they meet the dash, from an 89
so i dont know..
i have all of them laying here and they arent even close to the same shape design.,.
82 83 84 is pretty unique on 75% or more of the interior parts, than 85-up
might as well be a whole other generation from 85-up because they are that much different than later years..
most ppl dont seem to know it..
good luck

Re: Dash Shell, What years will interchange?
Actually the Firebird break down is closer to 82-84, 85-89, then 90-92. Some of the 85-89 parts will interchange with 90-92 but not all. The accessory switches for example are different, along with the panel under the steering column, but the panel on the lower part of the passengers dash and the dash pad are the same.
