Replacement carpet
If you replace the carpet with household carpet will it hold up? And can you cut it to lay properly? I plan on using sound deadening material and then putting down new carpet. I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this. Thanks!!!

Re: Replacement carpet
If you try this you'll more than likely want to rip the hair out of your head by the time your done.
The reason why it's tough to do is that these cars have a ton of curves in the floor pan to them.
The ACC carpets are molded to the cars original floor pan using a mold and a heat process, so that it conforms correctly.

Re: Replacement carpet
Household carpet also wouldn't stand up to the wear, and doesn't have the waterproof underlayer. It's a totally different carpet.
A pre-molded ready to use carpet for these cars is such a blessing. You just cut a few minor areas, the rest is all done for you. And it's CHEAP. Whole carpet for your car is under -- what, $500 or so? Including the hatch area. That's not bad.
