Seatbelt guide installation issue

I have an '83 TA. I bought and recovered a set of PMD's to put in the car. They have the original L shaped loop seatbelt guides on them. How do i put the seat belt through those guides? The guides are a solid piece and are not split so i cant slide them onto the belt. The seatbelt, as you know, as it attaches to the floor is in a rachet system so i cant seem to get it apart to slip the guide onto the belt that way....what do i do!?! I had the same issue with the seatbelt mechanism snap on cover in the headliner as the back snap on piece was broken and would keep falling down, found a replacement, had to use a razor to cut it so i could slide it over the belt....i dont want to end up cutting these PMD guides to get them on, but is there any other way!?!

Basically there is no other way.You will have to cut a slit in them.I have seen versions of the early L shaped seatbelt guides that were not 1 solid piece. You could pull them open and slide the belt thru

I bought some new seatbelt guides off ebay for a few bucks that allow you to open them a bit to slide the belt in. Not sure if they are similar to your's or not since they are for a Camaro...

This is what is on an 88. I would say you either cut yours and get a set like this.

Re: Seatbelt guide installation issue

I was referring to the slits, not the exact brackets. Sorry if I wasn't clear. People have said that other years came with the slits, but unfortunately I don't know what years so I can't help there.

Re: Seatbelt guide installation issue

there is another version of the 82's that would allow you to apply them without cutting ,but you gotta search high and low for them ,they are VERY RARE!....I once had a set and sold cause they were brown and I needed tan!
they can also be found in the 82'-83'-'84' berlinettas!....I have not been out to the ol' GM205 parts shop in quite a while, but I'll check around and see if they have any?....they got all kinds of 82'-84' T/A stuff!
