Re: Flashlight pics

Goodluck.I cleaned the hell outa mine and it still wouldnt work.I think my contacts were just way too corroded. If you do get it to work you may want to put an led light in it cause those things are worthless as a light when they do work.I`ll try to get some pics up for you.

After thoroughly cleaning mine and using dielectric grease on the parts, my flashlight has worked for several years without issue.

Re: Flashlight pics

I soaked both my Firebird flashlight and my Camaro flashlight internals in CLR and it cleaned it up pretty nicely, after that, i used my dremel to clean and polish the parts, and like above, used some electrical grease and did an LED conversion to it, and they work like a charm, bright as hell too with the LED

Is the conversion simply swapping in an LED? If so, what LED did you use? Details, please.

You can go this route if you have the cash:

http://www.led-replacement.com/l222.html

If you just solder in an LED, you'll fry the battery if you don't also put a current limiting resistor in the circuit.

Thanks James thats what i'm looking for, it just looked really blurry. I'm looking for a nice high quality picture of nice guts to see what i need to clean up and replace, sort of a monkey see monkey do.

Is there a write up for this? I have no idea how to solder or any knowledge of circuits.

It's a very simple design. The guts are all held in place so that when you separate the two halves all will stay in place. BTW, the tabs that secure the halves are easily broken.

You definitely need a basic knowledge of electrical circuits to do this conversion.

You can use this formula in this tech article to calculate the resistor value you'll need.

https://www.thirdgen.org/leddash

Edit: Here's a circuit that is similar to the circuit in the flashlight:

http://www.solarsam.com/d-links/battery_circuit.html

Just substitute the LED for the bulb. The resistor will go in the part of the circuit that goes from the "+" side of the battery to the LED.

Edit: Here's a better diagram:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LED_circuit

Re: Flashlight pics

Heres my problem. I dremel cleaned all the metal inside, besides the switch because i couldn't remove it. When i flip the switch on and off it doesn't change anything i'm pretty sure i'm missing a piece. Is there any way to MacGyver a solution? Here are some pics of what i'm talking about.

Re: Flashlight pics

Just because this is a tech article i'll post my own answer.
Here are the guts for anyone who wants to see where things go.
