Is there a specific way to mount the jack stand with an aluminum spare tire in the wheel well compared to the regular blakc donut?
and different hardware pieces?

you put your tire in first and then the jack goes in on the side of tire closest to the front of the car...

Mine has the jack mounted first and the tire goes on afterwards.

so then the tire does not want to go in? did you have to put air in it when you used it... did one side bulge out and then evened out?

Re: is there specific way to mount aluminum spare tire
basically i can get the jack stand in going across. then i just about wedge the wheel in there. but my problem is getting the hook bolt inside to hook into that loop bolt.
its just no room to work with the jack in the way
without the jack i can hookup the tire no problem

jack should sit almost vertically.
look at the pic above.
the jack has it's own rod to hold it to the car and the spare has it's own rod, at least on my car.

Re: is there specific way to mount aluminum spare tire
i know but in my 86 trans am theres a bolt that holds the tail end of the jack stand going diagonally towards the speaker and then behind the center of the wheel there a bolt hole taht perfectly lines up on the other end of the jack stand.
i think with the more common black donut spare thats how it goes in.
but i have an aluminum one now that did not originally come with the car and i dont have any bolts to hold the jack stand vertically.
ill figure it out guys. im at work i'll try again thing weekend with these new ideas and ill let u know how it goes
thanks

I don't have a spare in my car and I'll try and remember to snap a pic tomorrow of how the jack is mounted since it is still in there.

Re: is there specific way to mount aluminum spare tire
ok cool thanks.
when i bought my car all it came with was the jack stand and it was mounted diagonaly or more horizontal.
i had to buy the spare tire and hardware stuff seperately on ebay. so im just trying to figure it out. didnt think it be this hard.
and if i didnt need the jack stand id be good haaha. but ill try different combonations when i can.

Re: is there specific way to mount aluminum spare tire
its all set guys thanks. i went looking through a box of spare nuts bolts and screws and found a loop bolt thats much longer. it bolts the jack stand in the center and then i can put the tire in. and then put the hook bolt in and hook onto the loop bolt.
then tighten it down with that circle dish to hold the tire and the silver handle that spins down to hold it alll together.
everything is fine now thanks guys for all your input
