lower front dash panel, 82 firebird, same as other years?
the rigid black grain pattern piece on lower front face of dash(where you can see, and is mounted vertically) in an 82 firebird..... would this be only for 82 83 84 years,,,,, or are these same piece as 85-up too? no difference? same part number?
i dont mean the hush panel piece up under the dash,

No, they should be 82-84 and 85-92. I've noticed several differences already between my 84 T/A dash and the 89 Firebird I'm parting out (I'm putting back the dash harness and parts together so I can install it in one piece) :
- the location of the headlight and dimmer switch connectors are different so the gauge bezels cannot interchange
- same thing for the switches that are under the gauges, the 89 dash doesn't have the switches supports built in the dash but on the removeable trim.
- the fuse box bracket is different, I had to hammer it a bit to make it fit my 84 dash.
I haven't removed the 89 dash yet, so there should be other differences.
EDIT : I read too fast, I thought you were talking about the dash base.
The panel is indeed the same, the black color is slightly different (a little blueish on my 89).

yeah the smooth panel, theres one on left side, and another on the right side, at the lower face of the dash, the ones at knee level.
not the under dash hush panels
i knkew that most 82 83 84 dash stuff was unique to those years but wasnt sure on these panels though., ive only had two 85 up birds, an 85 and an 88 and its been too many years ago since i had them and i only parted and junked the 85 but the 88 i sold complete since i got it for free and it just needed the fuel pump replaced(p/o failed attempt at hacking up the hatch storage floor above the tank)
thanks

I've just noticed the passenger side panel is a bit different on the edge near the center console on 85-92 cars, it surely won't fit an 82-84 without cutting the excess material.
Driver side is identical, but has a different part number.

It seems that only a small handfull of the dash parts are interchangeable between the years.

Don't mean to bring up an old thread back but I couldn't find anything recent on this topic.
Can the dash structure from an 82-84 be used with all the stuff from 85-89?
I realize visually the components, cluster, trims, bezel are all different but I'm curious if the basic attachment points are the same.

You have to do a bit of cutting, but I think yes.
It is the switches on the bottom, that do not fit.
Also the bottom piece of the HVAC ducting is different. That is what I am missing at the moment. Put a bit more together since the pics, but still a ways to go. Mine is an '83. Was tired of, and bored with the orig stuff. Put in a 94 Z28 center console. Different.
