Kirky Pro Street Drag Seats Installed
I just installed Kirky Pro Street Drag seats in my car. I never felt safe using the 5pt harness with the stock seats so I finally got some race seats. My factory seats did not have the seperate head rest so the shoulder belts would tend to move around. I thought about cutting holes in the factory seats for the crotch strap and shoulder belts but I couldn't do it, the factory seats are still in great condition so I'm keeping them like they are in case I want to go back to factory seats in the future. The Kirkey seats are comfortable for a race seat but not as comfortable as the stock seats. I wouldn't put them in a daily driver but for a weekend cruiser or race car they are great.
I used the racecraft brackets for the installation. The drivers side fit perfect but the passenger side bracket closest to the door did not work at all. I called Race Craft and confirmed that the brackets do not fit the early 3rd gen cars, they will update their website with that info. Apparently the early 3rd gen cars had a different floorboard than the later 3rd gens and 4th gen cars. So plan on some fabrication using the racecraft if you have an early 3rd gen like I do.
Weight comparison
Stock Seats - non power 35.2lbs
Kirkey Seats with cover 15.6lbs
5pt harness 6.4 lbs
I didn't weigh the mounting brackets but I would guess around 2lbs per seat.
For the seat back brace I used an I/O Port racing adjustable brace. It worked great and allows for some adjustment if you adjust your seat. I bent it slightly to conform to the contour of the back of the seat. It came with all the mounting hardware and button head bolts.

The first pic shows the bracket that did not fit properly. The 2nd shows a close-up of the I/O port racing back brace mount. The last pic shows the mounting brackets and how you can adjust your seats with the different holes.
I still need to have tabs welded onto the cross bar to mount my shoulder straps. I have them wrapped for now. I heard that this is not NHRA legal anymore? I've done it in the past but never had any problems in tech inspection though.

My arm rests do work unmodified but it is a tight fit.
