Anyone own a 1993 Grand Prix?

I have been looking for some type of vent grill to fit in the big defrost opening on top of my 1991 Firebird dash board. The other day I saw a Grand Prix parked at the grocery store and it looked like the vent might be close enough size to fit in my dash board. Im pretty sure it was a 1993 to 95 model, it had the type of nose with the skinny slits on front with the four small square headlights that reminds me of a late 70s Trans am, and the big fender flares around the wheels.

Does anyone own one of these that would be willing to measure the length and width of the dash defrost vent or tell me if it looks like it would fit into the dash defroster of a 3rd gen Firebird with a bit of modding? Ever since I recovered my dash with new material, the open gap where the defroster vent is just looks so ugly, and I need a grill to cover it. but cant find anything long enough to reach the entire length of that huge vent hole.

Any help would be most appreciated.

88-93 has what your looking for. I have had a few of these cars. I have a friend with one too i'll ask him for a measurement. Fiero's have a similar vent you may want to check out too.

Thanks a bunch, I look forward to hearing back from you about the Grand Prix vent. I own an 88 Fiero GT and have checked the vent on it, but its not nearly long enough. Hopefully the Grand Prix vent is longer since its a bigger car.

Somehow, I don't seem to recall my 93 GP having a removable vent. IIRC, it was part of the dash pad... Could just be my bad memory, though. I don't recall any of the 87-93 GPs having removable vents (pulled the replacement dash for the 93 from an 87). Unless both dashes were missing the vent grilles?

They are removable, its a long grill made of black plastic. The one I saw in the car at the grocery was definately a seperate piece, and I have actually found one for sale seperately on the web, but the seller wont respond to my emails about the length and width of it, so Im hesitant to buy from them. It looks identicle to the one I saw in the parked car.

If the guy above doesn't get back to you in a couple of days, let me know. There is a Beretta at the same yard I pulled the dash pad from that has a nearly identical dash pad in it. It may not be exact to the GP, but it may be close (both are the W-body platform and this one is a 93 as well). I can probably get a measurement on that for you.

Thanks for replying. I have checked about a beretta vent, but its much smaller. A Lumina dash vent might work, its not quite as fancy looking, but appears to be the same size as the Grand Prix vent. Do you have any 93 Luminas in your yard? I would appreaciate a measurement on one of those if you have it.

I have to go there sometime in the next couple of days and see about a patch panel for my pass side quarter. He's gotten rid of a bunch of cars, but I'm pretty sure he still has a couple Luminas and a Corsica (nearly the same car for some reason). I'll take a look around and see what I can find. What size are you looking for, in the ballpark?

Re: Anyone own a 1993 Grand Prix?

Thanks Maverick, I found a Lumina up here locally owned yesterday and measured it at 22 inches by 1 1/2 inches, which is a little short. Im assuming a Grand Prix would have the same size vent so its probably gonna be a bit short for my needs. The Corsica is a 4 door version of the Beretta, so its probably smaller, but I cant be for sure. If you would be willing to measure one for me, I would appreciate it. The vent hole in the 91 Firebird dash is 29 inches long by 2 1/2 inches wide, and it has that slight curve too it like the Lumina vent. Thanks a bunch.
