need help with new seat design

Hey guys/gals! I'm in the market for some 4th gen Firebird seats (found a set, but awaiting pictures) and I'm going to make new covers, plus re-design the seat for a more "Recaro" look. I made a drawing of the stock cloth seat and then modified it in another drawing to give it the newly designed "Recaro" look. The factory Recaros are not very comfortable, and I've heard nothing but good things about the 4th gen seats. I spent about an hour on the computer, coloring in the newly designed drawing for what I want. I want the outer seat to be black and the middle to be white, but also wanting some red in the center as well. I'm not sure how i want to achieve a clean look with adding red. Does anyone have any suggestions? By the way, the material I'm going to use is all vinyl so it won't wear like leather and much easier to keep clean, especially the white.

Factory seat design on left, newly "Recaro" look design on right

This is my first (and only so far) idea...simple, but effective!

black and white looks great, still not sure about the red stripe. Somethin about it just doesn't look quite right. Thats my opinion, but the seats look really good.

I think I know something better.
you could do the red stripe more on the side of the grey cussion

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I dont know if you can se it very well, ( look at the passenger seat where your knees are ) butt these seats have withe vinyl, then cloth inner pieces, but on the corner of cloth, there is still a white line of vinyl.
you could change that to a red line.

Oh, I see what you mean. The welt cord between the seat insert and the bolsters? I thought about doing that as well, but I don't know if the red would "pop" like it does in the center. I guess I'll have to photochop that as well.

Re: need help with new seat design

it doesn't need to pop. it needs to detail for those who take a closer look to your car and see that the seats have to same profile as your exterior ( dark blue outer/lower color, grey inner/upper color , and a fine red line dividing those.

Okay, here's what Timmy suggested...and I do really like it...but there needs to be something in the center to break up all the white.

Re: need help with new seat design

The red stripe cording around the center is a nice touch. its the little things that give detail to the inside, the point is you want to keep the same theme throughout the whole car. The 92 ive been working on is flipped: the body is white with red stripes but the interior is red with white stripes so there isnt too much white. Little things make a huge difference. i think your design will turn out nice

Ok...your idea has officially been STOLEN for my car! That is exactly what I've been envisioning for my car except for gray instead of white in the center.

Re: need help with new seat design

What if you combined the 2 designs?Make a small red stripe up the middle that breaks away at the top and goes around the sides? Or you could do Timmies idea and put either a Phoenix or the trans am logo in the very first lil block of white there.Looks like a great idea so far, looking foward to see what ya do!
Love your car btw!
