My opinion? It looks very dated. Nowadays people recover their factory seats with either a Katskins type, or just a more muted/subtle color combo.
The candy cane thing is wayyyy too busy IMHO.

I really don't like it, there's too much contrast. I totally agree with Dante. It needs to be more subtle.

My opinion? If it was 1965 and it was in an Impala, it would be sweet. In a Camaro in 2010... no. Sorry man.

Well first of all, welcome to the board!
Secondly the seats... Not bad, maybe not something that I would do to mine, but my car doesn't have red or white on it. I really like the back seats how the white strips line up between the back and the.... butt part.
You know, what might help all of the nay sayers is some pictures of the car, I'm assuming that the theme of the seats goes with the theme of the car.

Re: is 2-tone the best tone?
I'm not digging the painted dash bezel or the seats. The white and red is as others pointed out, too sharp a contrast. Something more subtle would look better.

Re: is 2-tone the best tone?
i painted the bezel cause i thought there was too much black on the dash, the other thing is that this is leather and created by my hands and a sewing machine, i didnt buy prefabbed slip covers because they suck and theyre cheap quality. I really just wanted to do something that you dont see very often while keeping the theme of the car. The original leather interior was ALL red and it was really really ugly. in fact the only things that werent red was the center console and the top of the door panels. the idiot i bought this car from painted the dash pad red(over various cracks all over it) and the bezel and most of the interior. and it all looked like shizzzz. i had to clean up after him but all in all i think it turned out nice. preaciate all the imput guys. if any of you all need some interior work that no one else can say they have, let me know

Re: is 2-tone the best tone?
Sharp contrast is too much for the eyes if it was done all one color it would look much less busy. It also might be less busy if it was done in more subtle colors like a darker red and a gray, or black and gray, or black and dark red.
It looks like it was done really well and the craftsmanship from the photos looks pretty good.
IMO what I think should be done is change the dash cluster back to black the red isn't doing much at all for the car. And if you could do the seats all red, or all black with white, or red stitching around them it would look much much better. I was never a fan of the red interior. Color matching the car so much winds up being tacky. Its the simple highlights that you want to go for. Like maybe white face gauges with red numbers. Or white shift **** with red gear numbers. Cost you less money and look way better. KISS it, Keep it simple, stupid. Something that was taught to me early on when majoring in architecture. It took awhile learn to follow but the results work. It doesn't mean you cant have a radical design but as far as colors and wings and shapes and sizes keep them simple. Its the best advice I ever had given to me.
If I was you I would rip out all the red replace it with black or gray, get your self a nice set of gauges maybe white faces with the red, and rip those seats out and replace them with a black seat with red stitching. Grab one of those shift ***** and you will be golden.

I'm impressed that you did it yourself. The craftsmanship looks great. Not my taste, but it looks like you did a very good job. I need to get the leather seats in my '91 redone. I was thinking black leather on the outside and something like a black suede for the middle?? I think it would look good.

Re: is 2-tone the best tone?
yeah the color really isnt as bright as the pictures make it look. if you look closely it has darker red swirls in the leather. thanks for the compliments and other feed back. the machine i use is an industrial consew. and its taken me years to get this good, i just opened my own shop in sept. 09 and since then ive been doing a lot of custom work. like this c-10 we did. red suede headliner and white ostrich seats, panels, and dash.
as for the black with black suede it would look real nice with the right design

Re: is 2-tone the best tone?
I think it would look a little better if you kept the original pattern of the seats. Or maybe a little difference in width of the stripes (possibly narrow the red stripe) bc the way it is now does resemble a candy cane as mentioned above. The craftmanship does look great though..
btw the dash pad looks good, was it cracked?

Re: is 2-tone the best tone?
yeah the pad was cracked up lie mad so i had to refurbish it then lay 1/4 inch foam over it. Then i designed my vinyl cover, stiched it and wrapped it. I like the way it turned out. Yeah i dont know why but it looks darker in person than on the pics. up close its real nice. everyone who comes to the shop digs it.?????????

Where's your shop? Whenever I get around to redoing my seats, I'd like to bring them by and get an estimate

Your interior reminds me of a candy cane.
