shifter assembly replacment

shifter assembly replacment

i have an 82 trans am i need to replace the shifter assembly but i dont know how any advice would be appreciated thank you

What exactly is wrong with it? Is it a transmission problem? cable problem? shifter problem? or shifter **** problem?

transmission is fine it is just that you dont need to press a lock button inorder to change gears

That would be a function of the shifter assembly itself. It's just a matter of disconnecting the electrical harness, and the cables, then there's four bolts and it comes out.

I've got one out of an 86 in good used condition I would sell. Send me a PM if you're interested.
