Wood grain dash???
Have you ever heard of such a thing??
It looks original to me...but you never know.....
I am attempting a restoration on a 1986 IROC-Z, and it has wood grain dash panels and ashtray lid. Was this an option, or should I go back to original?
Thanks!!

Re: Wood grain dash???
LOL
Sounds like someone swapped your interior out with some pieces from a Berlinetta or Sport Coupe version.
The IROC's never had that. But wood grain WAS oem in some cars... Mainly the cushy V6 Berlinetta models that had soft springs, a seperate clock, rotating stereo pod, etc. There was a bunch of weird options over the years.
I'd slap some woodgrain panels on the doors and call that resto DONE!

Re: Wood grain dash???
I think it was an option. I have a local bud with a 1987 IROC - he has a wood grain dash, and it really looks nice - he says it's original and although hes not the original owner he's had the car many years. But I could be wrong.

Welcome to TGO. I'll be surprised if wood grain panels were OE. I'm sure the history buffs will wade in on the question.
EDIT: Curious, I did a quick search which turned up the following thread and others like it:

BTW, dakota, you might post your question in a single forum. You question will be answered sooner or later.

Re: Wood grain dash???
I had a clifford alarm that was dealer installed, lady said "from the factory" but I knew what she meant (or didn't know). not a single Clifford anything anywhere on the box or sensors... Just a GM sticker. After running the FCC ID and other numbers on it for a long time on car audio sites I finally found what it was. I needed another remote for it, but it was discontinued, so I took it out. Too bad, it was a great alarm, even popped my hatch.

Re: Wood grain dash???
No, the original fob was destroyed. I had rebuilt it with various pieces of plastic and resoldered a connection several times until it gave out for reasons beyond my knowledge. Looked everywhere local and online for a replacement when it finally died all the way, no luck. The brainbox under the kick panel is what had the GM sticker though. It finally locked me out of the car like 3 seperate times in one week. You couldn't even pull the battery because the alarm would realize that and come back on in armed mode once it got power again. Once I had to leave it overnight in a hospital parking lot with NO t-tops on while I went home and took the remote apart, LOL. It was a very cool alarm, and I have an electric hatch, so it was very cool walking up to my car and the hatch would pop open all by itself when you hold the disarm button, unless it was cold as hell outside and the shocks had no charge

Re: Wood grain dash???
When I got my car, it had the lighter wood grain dash. And it was dealer installed not factory. Apparently, there was a dark and light wood that I have seen on other Camaros.
