Gauge cluster ?

Hi I am wanting to replace my gauge cluster since the rpms don't read correctly and was wondering if I replace it with one that works if that would fix it or would it still be the same.

Whether a replacement will work or not depends on the problem. Personally, I'd swap in a used tach (the last one I purchased was $15) instead of replacing the entire cluster. V8 to V8 and V6 to V6.

Do those help?

From what I know capacitors dry out with age, so it may be possible that they're all going to be about the same. I've noticed that a lot of Berlinetta electronics are that way but it's more from physical wear, and cold solder joints.

This is the cause of 95% of GM's electrical problems, and is ALWAYS the first thing I address whenever I'm facing electrical problems.

In the specific case of the tach though, that seems to be most commonly a bad resistor on the DIP chip attached to the small board beneath the tach. The links that Scorpner provided will give you all of the information you need to fix that problem.

Re: Gauge cluster ?

Or how are the aftermarket tachs installed I seen them for as cheap as $10 on craigslist.

Re: Gauge cluster ?

Why not fix what you've got instead of slapping some cheap POS in front of your mal-functioning stock piece?
