Re: Oil pressure guage is non functional.

the most common cause of not showing oil press. is the sensor . located just above oil filter . not very expensive , not too hard to change . be careful of old/brittle plastic on sensor . good luck .

thats the sensor for the fuel pump, what he wants is the oil pressure sender, it is screwed into the block behind the intake manifold towards the drivers side of the dizzy

On older models like yours, yes. On the 88 TBI it's where Uncle Tom described

Re: Oil pressure guage is non functional.

really.. thats funny, cuz the 305 TPI engine in my 85 was before the rebuild originally an L03 TBI that came out of my old rusted decrepit 88 RS. take a wild guess where it was? on top. the only sensor in the filter housing was for the fuel pump.

Re: Oil pressure guage is non functional.

Well, you can put one there. It's easier to get to and an easier place to connect a manual gauge for testing.

Re: Oil pressure guage is non functional.

Some cars had them on the china wall, some had them above the oil filter, and some even had both - the cars with both had a seperate unit for the fuel pump and a seperate unit for the guage.

Re: Oil pressure guage is non functional.

I am having some problems the same!
I swapped to carb from tbi and removed the sending unit near oil filter and kept the one near distributor with 3 wires and screwed it near oil filter and blocked the other and gauge is not working!
I am with a mecahnical fuel pump so I need to know which wires to remove or use!
