I seem to recall that Hawks sold some of them, but cant recall for sure. I know thats not much help, but it's worth a shot... You should also check classic industries and year one. I seem to recall that one of these had an EXTENSIVE collection of different "Correct" covers.

Nobody's is perfect because we all buy our seat covers from the same manufacturer... they're the ONLY one making seat covers for our cars, except for a couple places that sell leather covers.

The covers are very good, and very accurate in terms of the patterns & stitching... it's just that the original OEM fabric is not available, so they had to use what was available.

For an aftermarket company to do that, they have to pay GM licensing fees, which just isn't worth it for them, but there's no reason why you can't take the new seat covers to a local embroidery shop and have it done.

My seat covers are moldy and I was thinking of taking mine off and washing them but I'm thinking they might shrink. Has anyone ever done that?

Sorry I didnt mean to hijack your thread David. I just got the classic industries catalogue in the mail the other day and they have pretty much everything you need. Its a cool catalogue. I think they have every seat cover ever made.

I wouldn't buy from classic if u want factory correct, i ordered some thinking they would be a lot closer then what they were. The miteral they used is horrible. The grain is wrong from factory (if u look close all the grain runs on direction vs factory that rotates. Die is WAY too light alto the picture doesn't do much justice. Would look stupid if i put it in my car and no Camaro embroidery. Heres some pics next to factory. I ended up sending them back.

Re: Factory correct seat covers? Who sells them? 91-92 red interior??

Wow those look absolutely horrendous. The least they could have done was get the grain right.

Classic should be ashamed to carry such a low quality product, even if nothing better exists.

It can't be much longer before someone makes truly correct reproductions, the cars are getting so old it's ridiculous nobody makes anything decent yet.

I guess I'd gladly pay in excess of $1k for a set of NOS seat covers/door panels if they existed, which I'm sure they don't.

I am getting tired of not being able to find what I want and I know I'm not alone on this. Can someone tell me why it is so hard to find quality 3rd gen stuff? I can build a brand new complete 69 Camaro using only products from the aftermarket, but I can't buy correct seat covers?

Does it have to do with 3rd gen cars not being in "classic" status yet?

You are exactly right. To most people these are just "old cars" and havent really become collectable yet. Give it another 20 years and they may be easier to restore, with manufacturers re-producing the original patterns. I mean, you can find our thirdgens in ROWS at the local junkyards. What few parts you can find being re-produced are high dollar, for instance, the dash pad. No reason for it to be more than $150.oo. I just put a new dash in a friends 77 T/A. It cost him $195.oo, and was a LOT more complicated than our cars!

Sorry if I got off-subject there...

You and me both, I'm getting really sick of it. Seat covers FFS, the biggest freakin' part of the interior, and all there is on the market is junk. What is really irritating is that at least for me, the interior would be a BREEZE to restore with new seat covers and door panels. My dash is perfect, all plastic is perfect, all yellow lettering is intact, even the carpet is flawless black (though I may as well replace it when I have the seats out just to do it).

It's like all I need are seat covers (and hell seat foams would probably be nice too, one of those things you probably wouldn't realize was ailing until you compared them to new ones), door panels, a slab of carpet and my interior is completely done, since I like the stock look anyway. That to me is 1/3 of the car--body, interior, mechanical. But no, nobody makes a damn thing that's in good quality.

I am jealous of the muscle car guys who can build an entire car from aftermarket reproductions, and not just crappy reproductions--genuinely perfectly dead-accurate restoration-grade parts. Not seat covers that are the wrong color, the wrong grain, and missing the logo. ugh.

I sit here and look at sites selling NOS stuff for our cars, and I try and evaluate what I need/want/will want in order of importance and what I think will dry up the fastest, because it sure doesn't look like anyone's going to be making quality reproduction anything for a very long time. As it is the few repro things that are around are in their infancy in terms of quality and accuracy. I really am on the verge of hoarding NOS parts just because I know they won't be around when I actually strip the car.
