ACC carpet question.

I bought carpet from 1AA a few months ago. great service. I just got around to putting it in and i'm moving very very slow! The reason is because I will be cutting for the 10 point roll cage and have plenty of time to take my time and have it come out right.

My question is, if anyone can answer, how far up does the carpet go? The shifter area is all cut out and doesn't allow you to slide it up and get the carpet to reach the heater box area. there's plenty of material to work with so I may just trim it and tug it foward to come all the way up into the drivers feet area.

also, Are you suppose to trim around the E-brake handle because thats not cut out at all?

thanks

I received mine from stockinteriors.com

yes, i had to slit the rug a little so it went forward. Be sure that you have it oriented correctly because my trimming was very minimal. You should be able to see the finished product in this section under 89rs interior makeover that i posted

Re: ACC carpet question.

Looks good. I was thinking that I was going to slide it all foward and find out the hard way that there was a reason it was cut all the way back.

biggest question I have. Maybe 1A can chime in ( I bought it there)

at the front of the carpet....there is a 1/2 circle groove cut out at the very front. Does that need to come all the way up to the front of the cabin till it can't go any further?

It would make sense.

you did purchase the moulded carpet; correct?

there is no half circle cut out in the front. I'd ahve to remove my seats but something tells me that you have it in spotuh to north vs north to south

did your carpet come with the heel and toe pad in the drivers area? For someone like me, having that made it easy to know which way to put in the carpet. I probably would have put it in sideways

Yes, it's definetely in the correct way. It has the heel pad also and is molded carpet. At the front of the carpet in the dead center there is a half moon cutout. MAybe because our years are different? mine is 86. Anyway. How far is the heel pad under your pedals? mine seems far back towards the seat.

I don't know about the model year??? the front of my carpet was not flat all the way across and i did slit it up at the top in the middle

Anyway, this would be best with a photo but please try and envision based upon the following pathetic description

there is a pad on the right side of the gas pedal. That small pad is on the tranny tunnel. If I put my foot on the gas pedal, and then lean my foot over toward the right then my foot contacts that pad

then there is also a big square pad underneath the brake pedal (mine is auto tranny). If I take a straight edge (ruler) held vertically leaning on the brake pedal, where it touches the heel pad there is about 1 inch of pad going toward the firewall and the rest of the pad goes toward the seat.

So, a foot on the brake would always be on that pad

there is also a pad to rest your foot on the left side and it is vertical as well

if I've confused you, it's the egg nog I've been drinking
