Cargo Hatch Cover Curtain retract issues.

I just installed a cargo hatch cover, from scratch! But now I got an issue. The curtain doesnt retract by itself. Does anyone have this problem too? If so, have you fixed it? If so, how?

Wanna see the installation? https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...tallation.html

Try pulling it all the way out - CAREFULLY. Then see if it retracts. The square ends on the roll must not move (must be securely in the holders.

it's like a old fashion window shade , must be wound up to work . first make sure it's installed with the shade opening on the top . with lt. side secure in holder & curtain rolled/layed out . lift rt. side out of holder & rotate CCW . rotate untill shade is fully rolled up . don't over due it . pull shade out & retract a few times . if it doesn't fully retract , a couple of more CCW turns on rt. side . repeat as required untill there is just lite tension on shade when fully rolled up . good luck .

Okay. I tried out your method without any positive results. I will take some video of the proceedure and post it up on youtube so that ther ecan be a more clearer understanding of what is being done. So you'll be hearing from me tomorrow. C ya.

Re: Cargo Hatch Cover Curtain retract issues.

If the ends aren't supported in the car with them pushed toward the center of the shade, the mechanism won't release and let it wind back up. In other words, if you remove the shade from the car, and pull it out, it won't retract until you push the mounts in. Make sure the mounts are being pressed far enough toward the center.

It's also been discussed before that the tension can be increased. It's a coil spring that can be tightened a turn or two to increase the tension. Try a search.

Yup. I already tried the turn to increase tension but I'm not sure if I did it right. So I'm gonna take some video and post it up to show if I'm doing it right. But ill do more searches to find more solutions to the problem. Thanks Drew.

Re: Cargo Hatch Cover Curtain retract issues.

IT WORKED!!!! I did have a little bit of a struggle when there was tension and tried to unwind the curtain to have it roll up over the rod. But after a few attempts, it made sense about winding CCW. Thanks UNCLE TOM!!!

Bro. Its not a fix in a sense but rather an adjustment. Roll the curtain as if it has retracted while mounted. Then lower your rear seats. Remove the bar from the passengerside but do not pull it away from the cup on the driverside. Now while holding the curtain so that it wont unwind, roll the bar counter clockwise for atleast 10 revolutions. You should begin to feel resistance. Once there is noticable resistance, insert the bar into the cup. Then pull the curtain out to extend and test. The curtain should wrap up when you allow the bar to roll back up. If the curtain doesnt roll up by itself, then roll up the curtain manually and remove the passengerside and turn counter clockwise a few more times and retest. If you really need me to record a video, I will for $10...... Im just kidding. seriously, if you need video of the proceedure, Ill do it. But as for my curtain, problem sold thanks to UNCLE TOM.
