87 dash help
I'm looking at trading my truck for a 87 was a v6 but he dropped in a 350 ho and carb'd it. I dont know why but the gauges dont work, the speedo and tach work but are off, and no other gauges work. Is this generally an expensive fix? And he says the top of the inside of the doors are missing, whats he mean by that?

Re: 87 dash help
the v6 and v8 speedo and tachs are different..youll need to find yousrelf a set of v8 gauges to correct the problem. i would assume the guy who did the swap didnt swap them

Re: 87 dash help
gonna guess that he means the trim on the inside of the door panel. those can break off the easiest fix to that is just get some door panels from a salvage yard.
i think that some people dont realize how to take the panel off and they end up breaking the top part

Re: 87 dash help
BTW - I'd get block ID numbers off that motor in the car and check to make sure it's really a 350. Either 1) No one ever seems to know the difference between a 305 and a 350 (because there is no real way to know without the block ID numbers), or 2) they lie about it being a 350 because so many people don't bother to check. Just like everyone in the world has a "Corvette" motor - if Chevy had ever produced as many Corvettes as there seems to be motors from, they would have never become "Government Motors". AND - there was no "350 HO" produced - there was however a 305 HO.

Re: 87 dash help
so true, everyone thinks their 350 is a vette engine, but yeah ill check the block numbers myself. if it is im getting a decent deal. tho the headgasket is blown... pretty sure its just cause he didnt put it on right, they can be tricky.
