repair faded dash

I have a faded firebird dash. I was wondering if it was possible to repair the vinyl at all? I have seen duplicolor vinyl paint and the similar, do they work well? or should I just save the money for a new dash?

Re: repair faded dash

Have you already tried refinishing products like "Back to Black" or the many other varieties out there to bring back the color? This would be preferable since the vinyl seem to be prone to chipping (like paint does) on a flexible surface.

I haven't really tried anything. I was hoping someone has already done it with some success and could give me any tips....

I was looking at the duplicolor vinyl paint, but I am getting mixed feedback about it.

Re: repair faded dash

did you prep the dash in anyway before you painted it?

I didn't even bother asking "opinions", asking for photos or anything because the paint is cheap to buy and it's just painting the dash so in essence, a no brainer

I cleaned the dash with glass cleaner really well, repaired the 2 cracks, used the vinyl paint and called it done.

Re: repair faded dash

Vinyl or leather dye works wonders and wont come off, but be warned it will be messy when you apply it.
