Re: Changing HVAC box

The only "box" inside the car is the box where the heater core is, and there's nothing to change there. The only difference between a factory A/C car and a factory non-A/C car is all under the hood, except for the heater controls that don't have an A/C setting.

Re: Changing HVAC box

ik that but i have the non-ac controls and cable drivin box that i wanna use as there are no vacuum lines and i'd like to use heat and it would also be nice to have the non a/c controls there. So back to the OP how much of a pain is it? and does anyone have any tips or trick in changing the heater box?

Re: Changing HVAC box

There's still vacuum actuated doors in the non-A/C box...

To get at the under dash heater box, well, pull the dash. Then it's all right there waiting to be yanked.

Re: Changing HVAC box

Well, now that I have actually read that section of the FSM, I'll admit I was wrong and that the doors are all cable controlled (kind of ridiculous if you ask me).

As for removing the box, it's either cut the dash in half and pull the right half out of the car or pull the entire dash. You CANNOT get the interior heater box out without removing the dash, PERIOD. It stretches from the extreme top of the dash all the way to the bottom. Not to mention all of the ducting needs to be disconnected from the box and you will need access to slip the harnesses out and what not.
