4th to 3rd rear seat back

Hello Gents,
Is it possible for an '02 T/A non-fold down seat back upholstery to re-fit in place of a fold down '88 IROC vert rear seat back?
I have found my IROC has a zipper along the bottom edge of the seat cover, possibly for removal?
I know the newer 02 seatback is a bolt in, and my IROC is hinged of course. Thanks

all third gen seats fold down. some are split seats, and some are solid. is that what you meant?

I'm confused as well - the 4th gen backs fold down same as a 3rd gen - it's just that the 4th gens had solid backs, and some 3rd gens were split backs.

I think he might have meant, taking covers off where the zippers are and put them on the thirds seats..

Re: 4th to 3rd rear seat back

It would be a WHOLE lot less effort just to swap in the entire 4th gen seat piece. It is a 100% DIRECT bolt-in, no modifications required.

So I would, IMHO, just put the 4th gen pieces in complete & not mess with just swapping the fabric.

Re: 4th to 3rd rear seat back

I did the 4th gen replacement swap last year. It was easy... too easy.

It's getting to be such a commonplace mod I decided to do something radical, and I'm putting the 3rd gen seats BACK in. (fixed uphoulsty with new foam of course)

Re: 4th to 3rd rear seat back

Thanks for the info. Both the new 4th gen I'm looking at and my existing 3rd gen seatback are the one piece non-split style. So the 4th gen style will bolt in ok?

Good for you! I'm getting a little tired of walking up to third gen's to look at their interesting interiors and seeing 4th gen parts instead.

You could add these to any seat you already have without having to replace the entire seats.

Re: 4th to 3rd rear seat back

Cheers, yes that is a sound option.
I haven't decided whether to redo the original seats in leather with the heater pads or replace with some other seat that has the heater already installed, I have read alot about the 4th gen seats being real comfy and then there are some sweet looking race style seats out there too like this CR1 which can be heated too!

The 4th gen 1-pc back replaces the 2-pc back just fine & no need to even take out the middle 2-pc back bracket for the 1-pc back to fit.
