How do I fix my hatch motor sensor?
How do I fix my hatch motor sensor?
Hey, I bought my camaro about 3-4 weeks ago and The hatch does not always close right, the motor has opnly ever kicked in twice for me, once right when it closed, then overnight, now it is always cracked open not pulled down, does anybody know how to fix this OR diagnose it so I can figure out the problem? I just bought a multimeter so I could find out if there is a short somewhere by measuring the resistance but I am unsure of where I would try, I dont want to break what isnt broken. Anyways, It is a pain in the *** and I want it fixed! I bought a new set of connections where there is a metal plate and a hinged peice on top with two metal diodes, and I replaced them and nothing happened, although I did get them from a junk yard, is that even the sensor? Thanks for the help!

there isnt much to hte hatch motor, just yank it apart and look at it. im willin to bet your clear case is cracked keeping the swich from making good contact and causing intermitant function. just take your time and dont worry bout sprngs or something popping out and what ever. its a simple screw together motor assy with a stop/reverse switch. when you go back together with the motor, just get the tab of the switch between the tabs on the up down shaft and it will adj itself automaticly.
when you go to re set the hatch motor with the hatch, just loosly bolt it up, shut the hatch and let it close and then cinch down 2 of the 3 bolts then go outside and lift up on the hatch. if it wiggles a bit then open the hatch and loosen the 2 bolts you cinched down just a bit and move the motor down about 1/16 and re cinch.
only do this in small incriments, thats all it takes. ya need any further help just ask, i'v built a few in my time.
