Ok, I want to change my rear hatch release over to the one with the button in the dash. I had an 87' firebird and this project was pretty easy. This is my 86' Trans Am and when I took the bezel off this was all I had! This car does not have power windows, power locks or anything else that is power. Also, I have this black case underhood with a a vacuum line come out of it and was curious was to what it is. This car has been decomputerized and I am in the middle of striping all of the wiring that is not needed. Please help me out here! there is a pull in with 9 prongs on it. and the vacuum canister is mounted on the firewall near the wiper motor. anyideas?

 

probly the heater core? (im assuming since its behind the dash & has a vac line) a picture would help

Ok, sorry guys I couldnt get the pics off my old phone to show everyone but I am wondering what the plug in is used for under the fuel gauge? I am guessing for the dash accessories and second, WTH is this vacuum cylinder in the second pic used for?

No, these are two componants are not related. I have a slight idea what the plug under the dash is for but the vacuum line off the box goes inside BUT I already have a vacuum line to the AC controls so I dont know what this box is for. The car is an 86', the first year and last year for lots of things. My 87' Firebird was so much easier to identify things on than this thing.

 

The black mailbox shaped thing is a vacuum reservoir, same function as the round under fender mounted ball on later cars.

The white connector, is for a subwoofer sound system (UQ7)
They have a slider **** there.
