Dash pouch install
Hey everyone,
I searched around and couldnt find an answer to my question so here goes. The dash on my Formula has some kind of bad looking burn mark on it. So this weekend I purchased a dash pouch to install to cover up the burn mark (has all tabs on the back). Only problem is my car did not originally come with a pouch and there is no mounting holes or anything. How should I mount it and how were the pouches originally mounted?

Re: Dash pouch install
I don't think any cars came with pouches, but then I seem to always be wrong when it comes to firebird specific things, rofl. That being said, I would have to see the pouch, but your best bet is to probably remove the dash and cut out a hole where you want this pouch to be and go from there, if it has mounting tabs on it I would only cut it to the size of the actual pouch, and then just remove that top layer for the tabs, and fiberglass it in, just make sure wherever you want to put it has sufficient space underneath the dash, there is a lot of empty space under there, but not all of it is empty.

Re: Dash pouch install
No cutting, but possibly a few small holes to drill for some push type studs. It's surface mount if it's the one I'm thinking of. I saw one on the classified board not long ago.

hmm if its something like that, remove the stubs imo, and put a velcro strip on that and the dash mebe, or otherwise glue or resin them together, though personally I would rather not have it so permanently attached.

4 small holes in the dash, the pins on the back of the map pocket are ribbed so they bite in when they are pushed in and wala

Re: Dash pouch install
I would say there are 6 small holes to be drilled according to:
