Ok, My console split

I know lots of you guys have easy fixes for this involving glue, clamps and such.

The material around the outside of the console has split from the center plastic.
Could you please explain how you fixed this?

New console covers are available last I checked - it's just the faux leather cover and you glue it on the actual lid piece (after removal of the old one I assume).

Oh - but I saw these for Camaro - you have a Bird, so I'm not sure on that.

take it out, clean out whatever foam you can get to. Use a good adhesive, clamps and wood blocking to hold it together while it dries...
My NOS console even split like that after 6 months, car is even garage kept. Just not a very good design i guess.

Re: Ok, My console split

Why not take the dash off and wrap it with vinyl, leather, or cloth. Mine was cracked when I bought and the owner before me took the dash off and wrapped it with a coarse black cloth of some kind. I didnt like the feel of it or the way that he left the defrost and speakers unfinished so I rewrapped in the bolt of leather I bought to redo all the rest of the interior. I can post some pics soon so you can see what it looks like. The most you will need is some glue, and fabric of choice. Ive had a lot of compliments on it.
