Trying to replace the aftermarket shifter in my car, I found a used shifter assembly but no ****. Was looking on ebay but I'm not sure what the stock shifter looked like - was it a square handle with a button in the middle that pushed down, or was it a T-handle with the button that pushes in sideways? My car has the 4-speed auto with overdrive. Thanks.

 

I believe its a round ball with a button on top. The square ones started around '88 I think, and the t-handle ones were for Pontiacs.

 

Look at the shifter in this one, I think all 85-87 models had these.

Sweet - thanks. I haven't found many (any?) shifter ***** like that, does anyone know if the square one will work? I'm not too concerned with keeping it original, just want to find something that looks okay and works.

The ones that came in Irocs and z28`s were leather wrapped.I cant believe that someone paid 40 dollars for a non leather wrapped shift ball in that ebay link above
