speedometer problem

So i screwed up while trying to add a 120mph to my 87 bird.
I took the 120mph plastic piece and put in my original cluster.
Now my speedometer is off 24 mph. Should i go back and put the 80 back, or can i fix this? I swapped the pastic piece out and then returned the clustor to the pull and save to get my 20 bucks back. (yes im cheap, but im a poor college student)

what are my options?

What's the 'plastic' piece?

To make the speedo read correctly, you have to swap the entire speedo head. Just trading face plates won't work.

Re: speedometer problem

Gotcha.
Before i swapped it out, it was like 5mph off, which wasnt bad.
But what causes that?
