Auto shift **** c clip?

Anyone know where to get a c-clip for the automatic shift ****? Or a part number? I have the ball, button stick, and clip, but not the c-clip that keeps it all from comming up.

Re: Auto shift **** c clip?

I hang around some pretty good hardware stores, and I don't
recall seeing anything near the size of that clip.
But that's just my

And in case the part # is no longer available,
some experimental alternatives might be:
-- carefully bend a finish nail
-- a cable staple from the elec. supply at H-D/Lowes.

If you need better info on either of the above,
I can snap a pic of mine (removed for some interior work)
with some examples, and include the dimensions.

Good luck,
kk

Re: Auto shift **** c clip?

Since we're on this subject of auto trans shift *****, has anyone come across an aftermarket one maybe a skull head or something? The auto trans shift **** has a thumb plunger that the stick **** doesn't require. Just asking.

Re: Auto shift **** c clip?

Let me CLARIFY..................
I just checked my 84 shifter!

Your looking for a external snap ring !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT a C clip !
Hardware stores will have a box with different shapes and sizes

These guys have them:

Then it doesn't have the ball shifter type that requires the clip being discussed

Re: Auto shift **** c clip?

If you have a newer car with the "staple" that holds the shifter in place heres a pic of the "staple" and a link where to buy one.
