Hatch pulldown motor problems

I have replaced the wiring harness and the pulldown motor on my 91 camaro. It started giving me problems a few years ago and I troubleshot it down to first the harness and then also the motor. After these components where replaced I was testing it out before pullingout of the garage and noticed that it would only complete one cycle of down and up before not moving again. The switches on the relay trip at the down and up position, and the only way to get it to operate is if I take it all apart including removing the motor and reassembling it. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know how to fix it because I am stumped. Thanks

I started having problems with mine about 7 years ago. Didn't want the motor to go completely dead while closed. So I put the motor pulldown where I wanted it, disconnected electrical and have been using it like a regular hatch ever since. Opens and closes perfect!!

The big problem that people forget are the nylon slides & plastic gear. The motor & switch are not always the problem.

Before I stopped using that feature, I would unlock it, it would go up.....then go right back down. So I had to time it just right and grab it or it would close again. Probably just out of adj.???? No worries anymore!!

How are your hatch struts???? they should pull the hatch up before the close function works.

Shocks might have been shot?? Not sure if I replaced them before or after?? Not going to fool with that pulldown ever again though!!! Thought I'd throw in a pic of my baby!!
