Engine: LG4-305-Edelbrock Intake/Q-Jet Carb
Transmission: Automatic
Should The Shift Plate Console Be Illuminated on 86 Trans AM
Should the Shift Console Plate indicating the Auto Transmission shift postion, R, D, 2,1 etc. be illuminated when the lights are on.
Trying to decide if a light bulb is burnt out on my 86 TA.
Let me know.

Not sure about Pontiac, but my 87 IROC-Z isn't lighted. Pontiac did offer a bunch of things that Chevy didn't so it's possible. Take the shift plate off and see if there is a bulb slot. It would've taken less time than waiting for a response.

Yes, absolutely!!! The bulb is orange.....just like the rest of the instrument lighting!!! If it doesn't light up.....it's burnt out. I keep my lights dimmed a little.....saves on the bulbs....been 26 years and never a burnt bulb!!
