They keep trying, but it keeps breaking the cameras.

Seriously though, is the draw of cup holders really so strong that you want to change the console?

Here, check this out... https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/esp_...ef=esp-tab-img

It was "kinda hard". I clicked "search this forum" and typed in "4th gen console firebird radio pics" and then clicked the "images" link...

thanks wise a$$.. search is hit or miss with my work computer.. times out, rare is it i get a chance to be at home and use something decent.

cup holders? dont really use them.. but when you figure the stock center console is hardly a "prize piece" its an attractive alternative, given that it also moves the cig lighter down to where you dont have a wire dangling, it also gives you 2 of them, plus a decent arm rest and storage space... and the plastic is much better and less brittle.. there are pro's and con's to it.. however i want to see what it looks like with the radio pod and if the lines flow well with it, like they do in the firebird, if not.. oh well.. but in my opinion its worth looking into...

Sorry, I just think it's silly when people post a thread and keep bumping it when they can do a search and find exactly what they're looking for, if only they'd make the effort.

The stock console gets the job done and matches the lines of the interior and the car in general. I've had a handful of thirdgen Camaros and have never broken a console, so I don't follow "brittle" either. The 4th gen consoles just look stupid to me. From looking at the pics that show up under the search, it looks terrible. Like something only a teenager would do. To each his own, I guess.

I agree. It doesn't go with anything. The plastics don't match, the body of the car doesn't match, and it doesn't fit all that great.

true in most cases... however... this one in particular.. is very welldone. Note the extra atention given to the upper part where it meets the dash.

If you spend the extra time, it can look great..

Funny, that's the same way I feel about LSx motors in thirdgens.

But like you said...to each his own.

Dave, good luck with your efforts.

"welldone" is in the eye of the beholder... To you that looks great, to me it looks like someone was building a Lego castle and ran out of bricks, so they used Duplo blocks to finish the job. It looks tacky as hell to me, from the gauges so far out of the line of site that the passenger has to monitor them, to the exposed wiring and missing A-pillar trim. Hack job. IMHO... Just saying.

Re: Anyone have pics of Camaro's with firebird radio pod?

Im not paying attention to the gauges, or carbon fiber, just the pod.

They spent a lot time making it fit an im saying it looks good from that point.

My conclusion: doesnt exactly look that great to me to warrant doing this to my car. In fact was going to do the entire 4thgen swap up until about last week, i decided against it. And after seeing this mod, i think i will just look for a new/decent thirdgen console, since mine is cracked. I still really hate the thirdgen arm rest, which also needs replacement.

Thanks for everyones help and input
