I actually like being able to see the stuff. I have always loved clear case items.
Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
How does the odometer work? Since the original was mechanical, so I don't think it's stored in the ECU is it? Does it just start at 0? What happens if you disconnect the battery, does it reset?

cdoyle. Yes it starts at zero. It does appear it restarts if the battery is dx'd. But I havent played with the options button much. So maybe I have it on trip?
source. What do you mean the layout is backwards? Speedo on the left, tach on the right, same as stock.

YEP. Noticed it right away because I immediately looked at the top right to look at the battery and see "FUEL"? So I start looking around for the battery and note how others are in the wrong placement.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
mine same design when it still was nordskog.
remembers its odo.
even if you disconnect the battery for a long period of time.
so no it doesnt reset.
but it can only count till 100000 miles, because it only has 6 digits.
from a 91-92 model I know that the stock signal is not mechanical but electric.

How is a reading out of spec displayed? Dakota Digital makes the numbers in the affected gauge flash when the reading reaches a high or low set point. Alarm set points are adjustable too.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
I know that voltage blinks when it goes below 12V
and I thought oil pressure also when the engine is running and it goes to 0.
fuel I dont know, I never ran out of fuel.
water, I dont know never had a 2 high temp.
these are not programmable. ( atleast not on my board )

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
My fuel and oil gauges are programmable, don't recall if water and volt gauges are. Voltage alarms Flashes above 15V and below 10V. IIRC, water is set to 260 (maybe 240). I have the fuel gauge set to alarm at 10% (reads 0%-99%) and oil pressure to alarm below 10psi. The tach is supposed to have an alert at 5500 rpm, I've been there a few times and haven't noticed anything.
I might consider one of these for my 89 when and if I do my t-56 swap. but I've seen some nice analog gauges (driven by stepper motors) from Dakota Digital that I like quite a bit too.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
Ive had my volt read 11.7 and no blinking. But the car wasnt running, just key on.
Ive had fuel read 04. But since it moves alot, it quickly went back up to 7,10, etc.
Timmie, using my stock temp sensor, it reads low.
I guess I need to play with my options button and attempt to get my mileage back up.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
dale, I have the nordskog one ( the original, yours is made by intellitronics, I dont know if the programming of the 2 boards are the same.
the low reading with the stock sensor was something i also had.
thats why I used a universal sensor.
but I still had a weird problem. I took current for the board from the back of the gauges ( pink wires, ignition on 12V supply) and my dimming 12v power came from the parklights wire ( brown tan )
so it was wired up like it should be
yet I still had a weird problem, every time I switched my lights on,
my instruments dimmed a bit like they should , but my temp reading went down 20 degrees, if I put my lights of again, the temp went down again 20 degrees.
the problem was that I had more voltage drop on my pink ( switching 12V wires) then on my brown wires from my park lamps.
so it looks it happened when to voltage of the lights was higher then the voltage of the board.
I fixed this by using a relay, that jumps on when I put up my ignition, and connecting my instrument panel trough the relay straight to the battery.
ever since then al my gauges read deadon accurate.
also something I have as a function ( dont know if you have it )
if I press the odo button once it will switch to trip. if I keep it pressed at trip, it will but the trip back to zero.
if I keep it pressed while it stands on odo. after 2 seconds it will show me
the top speed - 0-60 time - 1/4 mile time - calc
if I press the button again in calc. I can start programming my speedometer ( you have to drive a mile in this mode while it counts the pulses ) the more accurate you drive the mile the more accurate your speedo will run.
my speedometer now runs within less then 1% diffirence with my tomtom GPS.
if I drive 120km/h on gps I drive 121 km/h on my dash.

I have not noticed that on the temp gauge, but Ive only drove it once since temp was hooked up. I will check to see if thats fixed. But I thought before you said the temp gauge read high before. I may have miss-read.
I do have the options button as you mentioned. Havent played with it alot as I hooked up thru my engine pcm and calibrated it that way.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
They said it would take about a week, as they still had to build the actual unit itself. And on a side note, any custom color orders take about 3 weeks to ship and there is a price increase as well. I didnt realize this when i called, so i had to settle for one solid color haha. and i asked for olga but she wasnt in, so i told her about the discount from dale and she said shed look into it... i hope she does lol

Are these things still splice-and-go? Cause, if they are, the company should look at a different route...
If I can buy a replacement gauge circuit membrane (the thing on the back of the cluster with the circuits on it) for my 87, why can't they do so and make the cluster plug-and-play? Seriously, it would only be a few extra bucks (when you take out the hardware to splice the wires and crud), and a couple extra steps on the assembly line.

I like it, but I wish someone would come out with a dash that uses better LED displays.
What I mean is, the LED displays on these ones for text are too big. Smaller ones that had more elements would allow them to actually spell out 'Water' instead of H20.
How do the LEDs look as your RPM's and Speed go up? Are they big blocks, or smaller blocks that seem more responsive? That was another thing I didn't like about the ones from that other company that was out years ago.
The blocks were big, and didn't seem very responsive compared to the speed/tach. Not sure if I'm explaining that very well, but smaller blocks and more of them would make it seem more responsive/accurate.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
It's in my 2010 Classic Industries catalog... I'll get the new one and see if it's still there. P/N 25077198, 1984-88 cluster w/gauges and tach... Not sure if it's got the electric or cable speedo or not, but I would assume it's electric, as the clusters around 86-87 swapped to electric with the full gauge cluster.
:edit: Just checked (downloaded)... Page 104 in the current catalog. With the rest of the dash circuits from 1967 to 88. Which still begs the question as to why none of these companies that make a "direct fit" digital cluster that just drops in...
Camaro part number 25081605... Looks like they're both for the cable speedo, but still... The point is still the same. And yes, these are Classic P/N's, and both are $70.

Why would you spend 400 bucks on that just to have to go through all that work masking the PCB? It looks weird with the circuits showing.

Yeah, so i can see the date on the firebird dashes getting pushed back over and over again.....
We have the prototype on the way, so it could be as little as 10-14 days and up to 30-45 days. The electronics is completed and tested.
Thanks,
Olga
