Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
normally if you can get your normal dash to work with the LS1 tach signal, you can get this one to work with that signal.
but I think I read somewhere that a corvette uses 4 pulses ( or that of a 4 cilinider instead of 8 pulses ( that of a v8 ))
with other words, your tach will give half the speed of what the engine is really running
so you can do 2 things, or you change the dash that it also works with 4 pulses.
or you can buy something that converts your signal from 4 pulses to 8 pulses. and your problem is also fixed.

Brando. I am running mine from and LS1 pcm. I set the output for the dash to 4000ppm. I dont remember what the factory setting was... likely 2000 or 4000.

So, does anyone know when the hell these things are coming out? They kept pushing the date back when id ask and now they arent responding. The last response i got was over a month ago and they said they were just waiting for the finished product to come in since testing and stuff was done.

There appears to be no mention about any firebird gauges on the website?

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
i have a 1990 iroc that has the same intellitronix dash that i am installing(blue with red sweeps). the instruction manual was vague. the car is wired as a 1991 Z-28, it took alot of the day to trim out the carrier to accompany the new dash, i was pretty discouraged to begin with. my problem is that the sending unit for the speedometer doesnt look like it will work, the sending unit provided looks like for a cable driven set up......do you know if i need to hook up to the vss (or will that even work?) or need to go with a gps sensor?

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
normally if you have a none cable driven speedometer, you dont need to new speedo.
just find the wire that delivers pulses to the original gauge. and connect the new gauge to it.
you just need something to deliver pulses to get it to work.

If your cable driven, you would put that sending unit in the side of your trans where your cable goes in. Then route the wiring up to the cluster via your choice of path.

If you already have an electronic sensor in the transmission. You need to hook up to one of the two wires from it, before it goes into the buffer box under the passenger side of the dash.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
You have to hit the switch and cycle thru the features until it says calibrate and then hold it in. It flashes then the pulse count starts, drive your mile (highway is the easiest) flip the switch again and you're good! All you really need to do is bring up the wiring schematic for the gauge cluster and leach the new wires in right behind the plugs... Besides having to put in a new temp sensor, it's just an advanced plug n play system

Has anyone installed the Firebird one yet? I'd love to see pics as well as get opinions on how well it works and on the installation instructions.
Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
Finally got these into the car. Not a bad setup and easy to calibrate the speedo. GM didn't waste any wire in the dash harness though. Some of the connections were fun to make. This was in a digital dash car so the entire cluster panel had to be replaced with one from an analog car. Only real fun with the panel is the fuel gauge will show you just how triangular the gas tank is. 99 to 80% takes a long time. 80 - 60 goes a lot quicker. and 60 - 20 doesn't take very long at all. But 70 - 40 is only 1 gallon different when you go to top off the tank.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
I installed these gauges in my 86 camaro with an ls1. Is anyone else have issues with the oil pressure gauge not working correctly? I even bought an intellitronix oil pressure sender, but when i hook it up it just stays pinned at 99. I know the connection to the cluster is good because if i ground the wire to the oil sender casing, the gauge goes down to 0. Not sure why it won't read. Tried two senders.

Key on engine off, and engine running always reads 99. I was reading something on ls1 tech where the gauge of the wire im using may be too thin.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
You contradict yourself there. First you said engine off, then engine running?
If its 0 with engine off, then goes to 99 while running. I say you have more then enough oil pressure. I think Ive seen mine at 99 before.
If its 99 with engine off. Then I would check all the wiring again.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
I had a similar issue of the gauge reading 99 all the time for oil pressure when I first installed it. A call to Intellitronix confirmed you don't use their oil pressure sender with it. You use the factory canister style thirdgen sender. Worked fine after that. I moved that sender over to the LS1 so we'll see how that goes when I fire it this weekend. But I just left it plugged into the factory wiring.

I have mine wired up to basically an L31. I wired my cluster input to the pcm output. Set the pcm output to 2000ppm. Then set the pcm to the correct gear/tire size. Its about 2mph off at 70mph.

how do i change the pulse? is there onboard buttons or does it hook up to a computer? i live in canada, is there a button to use km/h? and does this bolt in, or do i have to mount it some how? and do i get the DP4003B or the DP4005B?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
I've got a few pictures of what I went through to get it into our 1988 GTA here:
https://www.facebook.com/DragonladyGta
Ours started out as a digital dash car so I had to splice directly into the dash harness and then replace the faceplate etc with a setup from an analog dash car. It should accept any speedo signal from an ECM through the calibration option and does switch to KM/H. They include an electronic speedo adapter for the transmission for converting over cars that have cable speedos. The only sender you have to replace in the engine bay is the coolant temp sensor in the driver's side head. Just be prepared to watch the fuel level move around constantly if the tank is less than completely full.

The cluster comes set at 2000ppm, you dont change it. You set your PCM to 2000ppm.

ahhhh, i get it now, thanks guys. and for those who have the firebird ones, which color looks the best? i have a tan interior, and imo red looks off, im leaning towards blue right now
Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
We went with red but the car is red with tan and black interior too. Red also matches up with the color schema of the factory digital dash as well.

How reliable is this gauge cluster set up for daily driver?
My interior lights are red from the factory. I have a spare cluster that I could use for a red digital set.

Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
Right now I'm having fun getting it all working with a LS1 swap. Right now the Speedo gauge isn't lighting up at all. I'll spend more time with it next weekend though to see if I can narrow down the issue. If anyone from Intellitronix monitors this thread, I'd love some feedback on this.

I just now have about 6k miles on mine. My biggest complaint is that it will occasionally read an obviously wrong mph at slower speeds. Example, pulling up to a line of cars sitting at a stop light, doing about 10-15mph... it will spike up and read 150mph or something crazy.

These clusters have lifetime warranty right? My speedometer stopped working a few days ago, blips at 1mph when taking off, then stays at 0. Pcm is reading the correct speed so i know the vss is ok. Gotta give intellitronix a call today.

how long have you had it and driven with it ?
Re: 90-92 Intellitronix Digi Dash Prototype In My Hands!
The speedo and tach section of the Firebird dash in mine was DOA and had to be replaced as soon as it arrived. The replacement for that section lasted 2 months and 8000 miles before it is being replaced again. I'm not real impressed with the board longevity at this point but other options are limited without lots of customization to the dash panel to fit any other brand of gauge.

Well got some good news. Went outside and recalibrated the speedo, works great now. I think the calibration may have gotten activated somehow because the numbers that come up for distance were at like 42000. Recalibrated it for one mile, and it works awesome
. Only thing left is that oil pressure gauge. Might just forget about it and get a mechanical gauge.

got the oil pressure gauge working today too. Bought a new duralast sender this time, and now it reads exact oil pressure in psi. Stays at 00 key on engine off, then goes up to 65 on startup then drops some. Last issue left is the tach. It reads half the actual idle speed. Running this with a 5.3, gauge reads 400rpm at idle.
