a little advice
a little advice
I re-finished my dash last week, with some annoying results. I cut out all the cracked spots, and the factory speaker openings, filling them with great stuff, with intentions on using bedliner spray on it. I work at an auto/truck accessories shop where we do spray in liners. Before we sprayed it, I put aluminum duct tape over the repaired spots. Well, here's the advice part. The spray comes out at 170 degrees. Great stuff ain't so great at that temperature. I now have a virtually indestructible, lumpy dash. Looks better than it did, but not sweet. Now I'm gonna have to grind it down smooth and re-spray it. Oh well, learned something new.

I think it would probably be a lot less time consuming to just purchase a replacement.

Re: a little advice
Thats actually a really good idea. I'm going to have to try it with my torn up original dashpad sometime, maybe put in a spot for a iPod as a HUD.
Good luck redoing it!

Re: a little advice
It adds a little glare since it's shiny, but it'll never crack again. And it's paintable so I may go semi-gloss black

Great stuff uses a chemical reaction to create heat to make it expand, thats your problem. In all honesty you would have been better off epoxying a piece of wood or plastic in and building it up with fiberglass or polyester. Both of the products you used are heat reacting solvent based. Also when the great stuff heats up in the sun it will only continue to get worse.
