My dash is just about as bad as they get. I have cracks from the back edge all the way to windshield in three spots, including both speaker covers. There are also five cracks from the windshield to the heater vent. The rear drivers side corner is cracked in multiple directions.
With that said, I'm going to recover the dash with a new piece of vinyl! The plan is to cut any of the raised vinyl off of the dash and fill the exposed areas with some kind of crack proof material. Then I'm just going to wrap the dash in new vinyl, securing it with a spray-on adhesive.

What do you recommend for a filler material in the exposed areas left behind from removing warped vinyl? some sources say to use foam, some say to use silicone. I have even seen some people use fiberglass or bondo.
Is there a particular adhesive I should look for?
Does my plan have any major flaws?

Thanks for the link. That gives me some really good ideas of what to do and what not to do! My "quick" searches never brought me to that thread. I guess wrapping is a better word than recovering. lol

 

That's the reason I ordered a cover,I'll give that a shot first and if that don't work out I'll buy a new OER dash pad from Classic.

 

im currently recovering my dash with vinyl my speaker grills were destroyed so i took grill mesh and layed it in the spot were the grill was.

 

Anyone else experience the fog like residue on your windshield after reupholstering dashpad with vinyl?
