Replacement dash pad

So I know there are probably a lot of these posts but I feel like I havent gotten a solid answer from what I have researched on here...

So my question is who makes a better dash pad Hawks or Classic Industries? If you have one from either company can you post a pic so I can see the difference.

Also there is a crack on my center ac vent around the edge. What do people do about cracks in the dash? can you buy the whole dash reproduction or do you have to find one in the junk yards?

Do the repros look bad? Mine has been covered with vinyl not really a fan. I'm looking for a new dash too for my 87 iroc.

both suppliers sell the same part, ive heard.and the quality is not acceptable.i have seen the re pops they are not even as good as a used one.if you dont mind it not being "right" you might justify spending $400 plus

Re: Replacement dash pad

I checked out Hawks dash pads and they don't list who makes theirs,I checked out Classic Ind. and theirs is made by OER,who reproduces EXACT replacement dash pads for the TA,I don't know about the camaro,I didn't look, have to check later.OER is licensed by GM to produce these pads,so I'm guessing, only guessing that Classic's would be the better pad to purchase,I hope so,I have one on order, but it has been no stocked since I ordered one,the reason they gave me was it was out for research and development.Apparently they were having a fitment problem with the screw holes.

Re: Replacement dash pad

There is a place called Just dashes

They are not cheap, but they are perfect.

http://www.justdashes.com/

The other ones you are referencing are reproductions

I have "reupholstered" some, and they look good - but not like theirs !
Mine has double reinforced seam on the edge.
On my camaro I will not use the same speaker grille as factory.

Re: Replacement dash pad

yeah theyre in R&D because 7 of 10 got sent back by the same people that were told "its a exact fit" .they are all made in china by someone that cant even say "camaro" and they may have bought a license from GM to produce them ,too bad GM didnt stipulate in the contract that theyre can not be any deviations in the blueprints. i would take a old cracked dash pad over theyre "OER" junk any day,at least itd fit with NO tweaking
