The dome light in my car is not working. Both metal clips/terminals that hold the bulb in place have power to them. Is this correct, or should only one of them have power to it?

 

are you getting power in the 12V cigarrete insinder?

 

Yes, the cigarette lighter works.

Are you sure the bulb is good?

 

Yes, I have tried a few different bulbs.

 

If it makes any difference, the floor/courtesy lights do work. Not sure if they are wired together or not. Should both of the terminals have power to them?

 

Perhaps the following will help:

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS:

If none of these components (courtesy lights, cigar lighter and the dome and reading lights) work, check fuse by operating Horn

If several circuits don't work, check ground G200 (Behind I/P, left of steering column).

I have the same problem, but the cause of mine is the dome light button on the overhead console, it has a short in it. If I wiggle it just right the light will come on.

 

I really need help!!!
I just bought an 86 Iroc z28. I was checking it out last night as soon as i removed the cigar lighter the dome light shut off. I also noticed the horn was working when i bought it but is not working right now. I am not so knowledged about these cars since they are preety old, that is why i need some help.

 

They are all on the same fuse. (I think) it should just be a 15 fuse
