Re: Alternative to dynamat?

Found this link in another thread, and just ordered some.
I can't testify to any results yet, but I certainly like the characteristics:
aluminum skinned thin foam (very light-weight, and heat reflective),
and economical. good bang for the buck.

(And quick processing for delivery.)

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Re: Alternative to dynamat?

I just tore my car apart to put some sound deadener in as well as EZ Cool heat insulation. My deadener is Peel N seal from Lowe's, I've heard good and bad about it, but if you dont want to pay hundreds, it should do the job.

Ill be putting that down with aluminum foil around the edges

Peel n Seal $18/ 12.5 sqr ft.
EZ Cool $32/ 40 sqr ft.

We'll see how it goes, I've been doing hours of research and this is what I've decided on for the price I dnt see how I can do better.

Re: Alternative to dynamat?

For what it's worth...

I'm finishing up insulating the interior, and 1 roll (4'x10')
of the EZ Cool is not quite enough to do all the floor & roof
area. Two rolls should provide enough to include something
on the doors. Since the bird is still a good way from serviceable,
I can't provide any before/after testimonial, but installation was
really easy, and it seems like ... well, ditto what I said before.

I've heard the same thing about a variety of heat insulations, when theres some air between the heat source and the foil, its supposed to work better.

I think its because if the firewall is already hot, and its glued or whatever to the ez cool, then the heat will be transferred much quicker by just being in contact with the hot metal.

If this makes a big difference, I'd like to find a way to get the best results without putting it in my engine compartment. That just doesnt look very good
