Re: fiberglass dash???
It would be super easy to do in terms of fiberglassing goes.
1. Remove Dash Pad
2. Fill the cracks with spot putty. Once it dries, sand it smooth.
3. Sand over the dash pad with some 80 grit.
4. Wrap the dash pad with a stretchy fleece. Use a staplegun to affix the fleece to the bottom of the dash pad. Note that you will have a bit of an overhang so you will want to go further toward the middle to make sure you cover all that can be seen with fleece. Make sure there are no creases / folds.
5. Test fit the dash pad and make any necessary mods.
6. Mix up some resin.
*pro tip - pour several smaller batches of resin in mixing cups. Pre measure your hardener. This allows you to quickly mix a new batch so it doesn't all harden on your. MUCH less wasteful.
7. Brush resin onto the fleece until completely soaked and let dry for a few hours or overnight.
8. Sand the dash pad with some 80 grit until completely scuffed up.
* pro tip - WEAR A RESPIRATOR. Breathing this stuff is worse than chain smoking a carton of newports.
9. Apply a thin layer of body filler over the dash pad and let set.
*pro tip - you can thin out your body filler with fiberglass resin (make sure to add your fiberglass hardener). This will allow you to paint on a thin layer using a brush. Makes for a lot less sanding. If you are going to do this, practice until you get the right mix for your desired result.
10. SAND SAND SAND SAND SAND SAND SAND GUIDECOAT SAND SAND SAND
11. 2k Highbuild Primer
12. Sand down to about 500 grit
13. Clean with wax / grease remover
14. Paint
15. Enjoy the envious stares of your friends.

Re: fiberglass dash???
I'll probably be doing something similar over the winter in the iroc along with some door panels and a center console. 4x6 speakers make no sense so i'm just going to glass over them and put some components in the door panel.

Re: fiberglass dash???
def will im wondering if you can change the 4x6s and mount a component system like a 4 inch or 6 inch woofer there cause for some reason i really love the clean door panels. im gunna look into that in the coming weeks and see what can be done.

Re: fiberglass dash???
Might look kind of gaudy. My recommendation would be to do it right, glass over the dash and install some of these bad boys.

Re: fiberglass dash???
Awesome! It's a lot more work than it seems, but it should come out sweet!
Last week I repainted the front air dam of my IROC. I used the dupli-color bright red base and discovered the BEST SPRAY CAN CLEAR that i have ever used.

I highly recommend picking this up when you paint your dash. It is only good for 48 hours once you activate the can but it lays out thick and smooth.

Re: fiberglass dash???
Here is what ive got done. Its not perfect its the first time ive ever done a dash and i figured id try to be alittle more creative then just paying for a new one.
-I filled the cracks in the dash
-coverd with fleece
-fiberglassed the dashpad
-sanded and sanded
-bondo the pad
-sanded times 1000
-wrapped in a black vinyl (i messed up on the corners and i didnt wanna tear it all off and do it again so i found some carbon fiber vinyl)
-Carbon fiber vinyl on the edges
-laid my gold stripes
had an idea about the center (to much open space)
-Cut IROC-Z in carbon fiber and trimmed edges in gold
Lemme know what you guys think of it!!

Re: fiberglass dash??? JUST ADDED PICS
I've seen a few. Last year I read up on a thread where the guy used rhino liner. Looked pretty good because of the rough texture the end results had. I also saw one that the guy had painted red skulls on his customized dash pad.
