Marshall gauges installed

For anyone wondering what the marshall gauges look like in our cars, i just finished mine and installed it. I used the factory gauge housing but holllowed it out due to the depth of the marshall gauges and wiring. I also made a new faceplace out of plexi and blacked out everything but where the gauges and blinker indicators are. Looks pretty nice and fit well in the factory cluster, no hanging extra pods off to the side I'll post a few more pictures in the daylight later.

In the light

In the car

Blinkers and Hi-beam Indicators on

Those look boss but I'm not digging the LEDs. They don't flow well with the blue.

Re: Marshall gauges installed

They're not that bright in real life. They don't stay on constantly theyre the indicators for the blinkers and hi beams

Re: Marshall gauges installed

The hollowed out original cluster. I just used a cutoff disc to cut the plastic

The gauges on mounted to a fabbed aluminum panel and wired up to a 12-pin connector(Radioshack $3)

The plexi painted so you only see the gauge faces and indicators. This was made to replace the original black plastic piece that holds the cluster in the dash

And the dash wiring rewired to connect with a female 12 pin connector (radioshack $3) Much more reliable connection than the factory design

Re: Marshall gauges installed

ok a little update on these gauges. One big con is the led lights the smaller gauges come with. Either the bulbs or the sockets are poorly designed and don't want to make a good connection. They tend to go on and off whenever they please. I took the bulbs out and tried squeezing the terminals on the sockets together so they'd hold the bulbs better. helped a little bit but they spread back out pretty much back to where they had started. One other problem is the fuel gauge. Some times it'll work fine, other times it just flicks around randomly, even though it's getting a constant reading with an ohm meter.

Re: Marshall gauges installed

hey, i'm gonna be getting these gauges soon, but i'm not sure about the wiring for the speedometer. I have an 83 camaro with a 94 lt1 in it and an 84 t5 with a mechanical sending unit and speedo. I can get my hands on a sending unit from a 92, but that still leaves me confused on how to actually wire it up. can i use the vss from the 92, and do i need to use the buffer? also if i do need to use the buffer, where is it? i've had the whole dash torn apart to redo wiring and thats something i've never come across

Re: Marshall gauges installed

any speed sensor will work with the marshall speedo. it only needs ground power and signal. it automatically calibrates to the sender's signal

Re: Marshall gauges installed

These look just the the SCX red/blue line.

How are these in comparison to the Marshall SCX version? I don't need all the features of the SCX, but I do want them to be as bright...

Look at this video, these are the SCX gauges (they come in redline/blueline too). ARE YOUR GAUGES THIS BRIGHT???

Re: Marshall gauges installed

you have any other pictures of these gauges lit up? also, it looks like you have a connector that will allow you to freely remove the gauges w/o cutting any wires. what kind of connector is that? where did you get it?

Here's another pic of the SCX, they seem to be the same as the LED's you have but with 180 degree sweep and alert indicators... I just cannot figure out if they have more lighting too.
