Another hatch motor issue..
So my hatch had a problem where it would continuously keep running after it pulls down and I would have to manually open the hatch to make it stop. Naturally I opened up the hatch motor to find the gear nut had been stripped at one part so I ordered a new one and installed it, same problem occurred and the motor won't come up when the hatch is released. I have some pretty funky rail guides that are snapped and chipped in many places but still manage to attach to the rail and fits in the harness, could the issue be that I need to get new nylon guides?

Yes, it won't be until to night,I'm off to work. I have a 86 z28 that I'm starting to part out seats, some interior pieces are gone. I have to remove it, does work fine, drives up & down very nicely.

You can repair it for failry cheap. Guides are $24.25. From your description you may need either a striker sensing switch (starts either the up or down cycle) or reversing switch (reverses the polarity of power to the motor, but can also cause the motor to fail to work). Call me and I can give you instructions over the phone on how to test the reversing switch.
