I picked up a non cracked dash pad but someone did some painting with the windows open and there is paint on each corner along with some light over spray across the whole pad.
Any ideas on how to get it off without damaging the original material? I read that Krud Kutter Graffiti Remover may do the trick but what your feedback/thoughts.
Thanks

I used brake fluid on some of my plastic underhood parts that had paint and other crap on it and it took it off very easy without any hard scrubbing. Brake fluid eats paint... I would try a small spot on your cracked dash and see how it does on the plastic. I'm sure there is other recommendations, but I had great success with small amounts of brake fluid.
Post pics when your done... sexy car!!

The dash in convertible is cracked but not bad, I am actually going to possibly fix it. I came across this one locally and what it for a spare if possible.

As suggested, test first. And yes, use the old dash for that.
Mineral spirits may also help you remove overspray, but again, test it so you can be sure it will not damage the dash pad.
Brake cleaner is not strong enough to remove paint and will definitely hurt the plastic. It will dry it out badly. Anything that will removed paint will be very touchy on that thin/brittle plastic.Originally Posted by motobooks

Try a test spot on the bottom of your old dash of what ever you use. Brake FLUID will start melting the paint and should be able wipe or softly scrub it off.
I am pretty sure it was brake fluid.

Try a clay bar.

Brake fluid works great. I have some plastic soaking in it now. I have yet to mess any trim up with it.
You have to be patient. Depending on what type of paint you are trying to remove, you may need to soak it for a few days and hit it with some scotchbrite to finish it off. Just be gentle with the dash pad. If it is uncracked it is a find.

It's going to take a hell of a lot of brake fluid to soak a dash-pad.Originally Posted by 82tarecaro

I guess I didn't explain that right. On larger pieces I brush it on and keep wetting it a few times a day.
I bought some graffiti remover and that is taking off the paint. It's very slow and needs to stay wet but it's coming off. It will be a long process but I should have a like new pad when done.

Is it damaging the plastic? The graffiti remover has solvents in it.

It doesn't appear to be. The stuff I got is water based and biodegradable. It states that it doesn't affect plastics.Originally Posted by 82tarecaro

Been using brake fluid for years on delicate parts, have yet to ruin any of them.A toothbrush helps remove paint on textured surfaces.
Brake fluid is working nicely. I am also using a brass brush with light pressure and the paint is coming off. Thanks for the info.
